Each academic year, the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics awards up to 2 unpaid Visiting Fellowships to researchers and practitioners who propose to visit Harvard in order to work on pressing issues in ethics. Generally, these fellowships are for individuals who are not in need of funding and who have paid sabbatical or other leave support, and are typically awarded for a period of 3-12 months (in rare cases, we may consider applications outside of that timeframe). Scholars who are in need of funding should consider applying for our [Fellows-in-Residence](https://www.ethics.harvard.edu/fellows-in-residence) program.

Visiting Fellows are expected to devote the majority of their time to their individual projects. Visiting Fellows will be invited, but not required, to participate in regular work-in-progress seminars and in the Center's programming, which includes public lectures, themed seminars and reading groups, conferences, workshops, and lunch discussions. Access to Harvard's libraries, programming, and community of scholars can often be facilitated by the Center, depending on length of stay. The Center will provide office space only in the very rare cases in which it is available.
