Maxine Gill

Maxine is a Pre-Doctoral Fellow on the Pedagogy Team at the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics, where she develops and curates the center's university-wide portfolio of civil discourse resources and contributes to design and evaluation initiatives. Prior to joining the Safra Center, Maxine served as a Research Assistant on the Pinyon Juniper Community Climate Action Project at Stanford University, studying cultural ecosystem services and environmental management in the Eastern Sierra. Her fieldwork experience in this diverse rural community sparked her interest in civil discourse as a tool for tackling existential challenges like climate change, and she's excited to bring her social science research background to the Center. Maxine holds as BASc in Philosophy and Cognitive Sciences from Minerva University, where she studied across seven countries. In her spare time, you'll still see Maxine galavanting somewhere– either exploring any mountain she can get to, or getting her hands dirty with clay in the pottery studio!
