From 1967 to 2006, Malcolm Salter was a member of the Harvard Business School faculty where, most recently, he served as a Senior Associate Dean. He is, mostly recently, the author of Innovation Corrupted (Harvard University Press, 2008), an account of the origins and legacy of Enron’s collapse and The Fading Light of Democratic Capitalism (Cambridge University Press, 2024), an account of how pervasive cronyism and restricted suffrage are destroying democratic capitalism as a national ideal…and what to do about it. 

From 1986 to 2006 Professor Salter was president of Mars & Co., an international strategy-consulting firm. Professor Salter is a graduate of Harvard University where he received his AB, MBA, and DBA degrees.

Professor Salter served on the Lab Committee from 2010 to 2015 and was appointed as a Faculty Associate in 2015.
