Jennet Hojanazarova is a fourth-year PhD student in the George Church Lab. Her research focuses on developing new RNA-based diagnostic approaches for neurodegenerative disorders, an increasingly important area as our population continues to age. Jennet is originally from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and her journey to Cambridge has taken her through several different places. She first came to the United States for high school in Buffalo, New York, before returning to Ashgabat. Jennet later moved back to the U.S. to attend college in Iowa and eventually made her way to Cambridge for her PhD. Altogether, she has spent the past nine years living in the United States, and each place has shaped her experience in a different way. Outside the lab, Jennet loves exploring New England, baking, and collecting antiques and special pieces that remind her of home. She is very excited to serve as a FiVE Fellow this academic year and especially looks forward to the meaningful conversations, new perspectives, and opportunities to learn from one another!
