David Kidd (PhD, Social Psychology) is the Chief Assessment Scientist with the Research & Design Studio (R&DS) at the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics (ELSCE). David works as a co-leader R&DS’s to the Research Team to develop valid methods for assessing civil discourse and evaluating pedagogical tools developed by the R&DS’s pedagogy team and affiliates. He also supports fellows in their research, and, in collaboration with other Research Team members and ELSCE affiliates, he conducts experimental and applied research investigating topics including ethics education, the role of values in undergraduate education, zero-sum thinking and affective polarization, and intellectual humility. He is also affiliated with the Democratic Knowledge Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he works to improve assessment in civic education.
