Claudia Sauermann Wu is an attorney, educator, and civic leader with a passion for community engagement and historic preservation. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Center for Civic Engagement &amp; Service in Newton, MA, which empowers high school students through education in leadership, civics, and service. Claudia also consults to nonprofit historic preservation organizations and government agencies by providing advice and facilitation services on preservation issues, board development and organizational priorities.

She has worked as Senior Legal Liaison at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and as an attorney in the Real Estate Department of Hale and Dorr (now Wilmer Hale). She served as Board Chair of Preservation Massachusetts, and is currently on multiple boards, including the National Advisory Council for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Strawbery Banke Museum and Landmark Trust USA. Claudia is also a recurring guest speaker at Harvard University.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wellesley College and a J.D. from NYU School of Law, Claudia has received Preservation Massachusetts' Senator Paul Tsongas Award, the City of Newton's Community Service Award and a Boston Mayoral Proclamation (Menino) in recognition of her work in preserving the historic and architectural legacy and economic vitality of the City of Boston.
