Candice Delmas

Candice Delmas is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Political Science at Northeastern University, Boston. She works at the intersection of social and political philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of law. She is the author of numerous academic publications in leading philosophy and political science journals, and of two books, A Duty to Resist: When Disobedience Should Be Uncivil (Oxford University Press, 2018) and a Cambridge Element entitled Civil and Uncivil Disobedience (Cambridge University Press, 2026). She co-edited with Avia Pasternak The Ethics of Uncivil Protest and Resistance (Oxford University Press, 2026). At the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics, she will be pursuing her new research on carceral governance, Democratizing the Prison.
