Announcing 2026 Graduate Fellows!
Our six new graduate fellows come from as many academic backgrounds to pursue their PhDs – and one SJD! – here at Harvard. This new cohort brings expertise in philosophy and religion, political theory and law, and history and religion. Having an interdisciplinary group strengthens the work of our students, each informing and informed by their peers’ fields.
Two students, Jing Hwan Khoo and Justin Hauver, are both working on aspects of love. Jing Hwan is exploring how various human practices—such as rituals, dwelling, presence, and love—orient us in time and shape our relations to other humans and non-humans. Justin examines how new teachers grapple with what he calls “unruly love” by revealing that alongside content knowledge and pedagogical techniques, teachers must learn to care for unpredictable students, navigate competing values, and tend to evolving selves. We look forward to learning how their work develops through workshops, seminars, and informal conversations!
We are also pleased to announce the inaugural recipient of The Dennis F. Thompson Fellowship in Ethics, Hannah Kunzman, for her work on childhood, growing up, and the development of agency. This fellowship honors Dennis’ memory by supporting graduate degree candidates in the field of ethics at Harvard University. Fellows carry forward his legacy of thoughtful, interdisciplinary, and courageous inquiry.
