**Applications for 2026-27 are now open.**

**The Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics (ELSCE) is pleased to announce the fourth year of our Fellowship in Values Engagement (FiVE) Program.**

This program fosters intellectual vitality in undergraduate residential life by creating sustained opportunities for students to engage one another about questions that matter. Fellows help cultivate communities in which students can reflect on their values, articulate them with greater clarity, and encounter the values of others with curiosity and seriousness.

**We invite Proctors and Tutors from the Yards, the twelve Houses, and the Dudley Community** to apply to serve as Fellows in Values Engagement as a complement to their existing Proctor and Tutor roles. One Fellow per House or Yard will be selected. Each Fellow will be paired with an undergraduate Student Ambassador in Values Engagement (SAVE) from the same community to ensure that undergraduate perspective remains central to the work.

### Program Structure expand\_more

Participation in the Fellowship requires a commitment of approximately **20–25 hours per semester**. The program is structured around two core elements:

- **Facilitation Workshops:** The Fellowship begins with a mandatory facilitation camp prior to the start of the academic year. Fellows then meet six times per semester for structured workshops. These workshops are practice-based. Fellows rotate through the roles of participant and facilitator, developing greater awareness of how they enter values-laden conversations and refining skills in question design, pacing, and intervention. A central feature of the program is intentional self-development: Fellows practice engaging one another about meaningful differences and receive structured feedback over time. **Attendance and full participation in workshops are mandatory.**
- **Weekly Dining Hall Dialogues:** Each Fellow hosts a recurring, drop-in dinner conversation in their House or Community at a consistent time. Conversations are prompted by questions shared in advance that invite students to reflect on values that shape their lives, often through engagement with timely topics from around campus, political life, or in the broader culture. Twice per semester, these dialogues may be held at a restaurant in Harvard Square. These dinners are not debates or lectures. They are lightly structured conversations designed to increase students’ comfort articulating their own commitments, to deepen their understanding of others, and to lower the perceived costs of engaging across difference. Unlike prior years, Fellows will not organize large-scale community events. The weekly dialogue is the central outward-facing responsibility of the Fellowship. Twelve total dialogues are expected each semester.

### Eligibility expand\_more

Applicants must be current Proctors or Tutors in the Yards, the twelve undergraduate Houses, or the Dudley Community. Current Fellows are encouraged to reapply.

Applicants should confirm their eligibility under University and FAS policies and ensure that they can commit to the pre-semester facilitation camp, six workshops per semester, and weekly Dining Hall Dialogues.

### Awards expand\_more

Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $2,500 for the 2026–2027 academic year. Stipends in the amount of $1,250 will be paid at the end of each semester to Fellows who have met their program obligations. Modest programming funds will be available to support Dining Hall Dialogues, including the option of hosting select sessions at a restaurant in Harvard Square.
